Olympic Weightlifter Sheldon Stuckart represented Team USA at his first international competition at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships (May 6) in Lima, Peru.
The Lindenwood Sophomore and Ohio’s own, lifted in the 85 kg division against athletes from all over the world, finishing 12th with a total of 283 kg.
In the snatch competition, Stuckart lifted 125 kg on his first attempt, missed on his second attempt at 130 kg before successfully lifting the weight on his third try.
In the clean and jerk, he cleared 153 kg on his first attempt, but was unable to get credited with a higher lift on his final two tries.
The Junior World Weightlifting Championships began May 4 and conclude May 11, with Stuckart competing on May 8.
Close to 200 male and female athletes qualified for the event from 52 different countries.
